Canon Flash, What pin does what?

Looking at the top of the camera on the hotshoe I can see one large and four small pins or dots. Does anyone know if they each have a job?

Im guessing the center pin is for "fire the damn flash" so that PT04's work.

Some of them are used by the service centres to retrieve data from the camera via a plug that clips onto the hotshoe and connects to a PC.
