Evening ladies and gents.

Just about to purchase a Canon G12 but I'm not sure which size memory card to choose? I'd be shooting in RAW 99% of the time. Does anyone know how many images would fit on a 2GB card for example? Or on average what the size of a single file is?

I'd probably take a modest amount of HD video clips too.

What does the great wisdom of TP think?

According to the user manual the typical file size of a RAW file from the G12 is ~14MB. An empty 8GB card on my G12 is saying a potential 549 shots available when I just fired it up :)

Jpg files will be around 3-5mb and raw files 10-17mb or maybe more depending on subject and settings. If you start taking a few videos the 2gb cards can fill pretty fast. For the price of media these days you would be best aiming for 8gb or 16gb cards since they are pretty cheap these days from mymemory and similar places.
