Canon G15 - Now Official

very nice
f/1.8 (W) – f/2.8 (T)
could tempt me away from my Lx5!

and they've not gone down the more megapixels is better either
selling this camera to people who know what they're talking about and don't want unnecessarily high pixel densities

Agreed - it's an interesting proposition and seems to have skimmed some really nice elements of the Canon DSLR feature sets into this little cutie.

The Wife keeps badgering me for a replacement compact, because she can't be bothered with the SLR to take photos. I might just have to treat me, us, her.

Ahem.

Looks fantastic apart from that, shame

I have to say I recoil from these open-out-twist-and-break-off screens.

I have children. Things like that WILL be broken off.

The lack of a break-off-able screen is a draw for me.

The Canon Powershot S110 is also quite an attractive proposition, especially as it stops down to F2.0

Well you can't please all people all of the time .....................................

Personally I can't take photographs with my arms outstretched in front of me. The swivel screen allows me to hold the camera close to my body and is great in bright sunlight too.

Good for disceet photography also. Would definitely not buy a camera without this facility.

But I don't have little kids messing with my stuff ;)

I have children, 2 in fact I still bloody love tilt swivel screens :)

Still really like the look of this one, if the quality is up there it should be a classic

never gotten on with screens, and for longevity I see this as a weak point. it's a solid piece of kit and I'd always go for a decent screen and good build quality over a swivel out screen tbh
if I want to really have a screen for macro work, then I'd tether it maybe?
Not have a screen is a plus point for me tbh.
only handy for me if you want self portraits, or have real trouble getting down to your subject

You reckon? So only people who know what they're talking about will want this? Because they didn't stick more MP in? I've never heard such nonsense,

Looks a nice pocket option. Great for gigs and discreet street shooting. I'd wait on reviews though.

Don't take this the wrong way, but how is it possible to shoot discreetly when using a fixed screen?

Was just thinking about that, if it's a token gesture as those before I'm not interested
