Gonna buy a grip for my 30D.

Is it worth paying the difference for the E2n over the E2 ?

MBP have several pre-owned ones which vary from £54-£59 for the E2, up to £79 for the E2n.

Just wondered if it's worth paying the little extra for the E2n ?

Anyone used/own both ?

As far as I know, the E2n has weather sealing - of a sort - a thin fillet of black rubber to stop wet getting into the battery box. How effective it is, and whether it's worth the price premium? Personally, I doubt it. Your call.

I've had my BG-E2 about 4 years and through winter when it gets cold the grip won't work. It cuts out as if the batteries are exhausted after the first shot. Found out a few months ago it is a known fault on early models. In USA it is a free mod but over here Canon want £70+ for the mod. I would go for the BG-E2n to be on the safe side.

The 30D is not weather sealed. It is possible (probable) your lenses are not either. I can't see much advantage in paying extra for a weather sealed grip if everything else is going to let in water. You'll either stick to dry weather shooting or use some sort of cover.

Thanks guys.

Yeh, weather sealing isn't an issue as I'll be shooting 95% in the dry.

If that's the only advantage of the E2n, may as well go with the earlier version.
