hi all ive just bought a used 500d and a new eos m

the eos m comes with a speedlight 90ex flash will that work on the 500d ?

if it will is it much better than the built in flash or am i better saving for a dedicated flash

Congrats on your new purchases.

Yes the flash will work on your 500D as its the new small flash unit Canon have launched.

As its a flash for the Eos M (as it doesn't have an in built flash) I would suspect if it is any better than the built in one from your 500D, it's going to be small advantage.

No problems.

Yes keep an eye open, but don't be in a rush - see what you want it / need it to do -> do you want it to be able to fire another flash (master) for example

500d will be mostly for my macro lens ill use the eos m when im out and about

So you may want an off camera flash or possibly a ring flash then. You could get wireless triggers or an off camera flash cord and use the Eos M flash to begin with and then go from there ?

There's a 430EXII in there at the mo for a good price!
Not mine btw, I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I'm not getting rid of it any time soon.
