Canon IP4600 tips please

After ditching the HP5550 printer, I have bought a ip4600 from Canon on ebay and wonder if there are tips on cheaper printing, setting the cleaning to off? Etc.
One thing I would like to know is how to turn off the printer taking control of colours, and letting Photoshop control them. The layout and settings is confusing me.

Hmmm well re running costs, I can get the cyan magenta and yellow multipack for about £20. I use cheap 3rd party ink black ink from internet ink. Com and don't have Ny problems.

Is it OK then to mix the inks?

I only use geniune inks from 7 day shop
As for the colour management
go to properties
then look down to color/intensity
click on set
click on matching at top
under color correction click none
