Canon IP4700 Vs Epson Photo P50

There have been several "What's the best A4 photo printer" threads over the last few weeks. Everyone seems to think that the Canon IP4700 is the beast to go for.

However, in the January 2010 issue of Digital Photo magazine, there is a comparitive review of the Canon and the Epson Stylus Photo P50. This gives the gold award to the Epson, despite its lower print resolution. The main reason given for this is that the Canon "prints look too warm and over-saturated and this is especially noticeable on skin tones".

Comments anyone? My venerable Hewlett-Packhard is showing signs of dying of old age so I have a very personal interest in this issue.

Can't help with this directly, but I swopped from an Epson R300 to the Canon iP4500 an have been delighted with the results, in my opinion, much much better and if / when I need to change, think I'm staying with Canon.

BTW - if you did notice the slightly warm tone etc, you can always modify this in the settings, could you not

Anyway, good luck with your search.(y)
