Canon Ixus 100 poor images?

Purchased one of these as a 'night out' camera the other week based on reviews and the fact that I have Canon DSLR equipment and cant fault it...

anyway, the photos I have taken so far(and others - so I know its not just me) seem to be very poor considering the quality of the camera..

I have had better pics with a cheapy P&S I had before.

Can anyone shed any light on this or give any tips (other than to stop drinking before taking the pics? )

I will do Ray, but currently they are on my work PC.

As I said, only had the camera a short while, but on auto setting the pics seem a bit poor (no sharpness). Tried on P setting and they seemed a bit better, but tbh, some were OOF and others seemed grainy - ISO was 200 (maybe due to this new face recognition feature?) and I would have expected better.
