Hello all,

My parents have just come back from a holiday and they said there camera was playing up whilst away.

I've just had a look at the pictures and a lot of them are blurred, which is a real shame :( It's not like the camera was taking crisp pictures then it now doesn't as it was a bit of a mixed bag.

When I turn the camera on or off I get a scratchy kind of noise before the lens zooms out or in before closing.

I'm not sure if this is the problem or if it is a setting, if it is the noise above does anyone have any ideas what it could be or what I can do about it?

Does anyone have a Canon IXUS 80IS? Are they prone to failure?

Scratchy noise sounds like sand in the lens mechanism which may be accountable for the quality of the images, possibly work sending it away to be serviced?
 
Possibly, but it's not been near a beach - they went to New York.

It's a kind of loose noise, hard to explain.

Does anyone have one that they could shake and test for me to see if it makes the same noise?
 
they didn't drop it off the empire states building did they:)
