I was at a local store yesterday, and found a 70-200 L series lens for 300 pounds in the window. Not the IS version unfortunately but im interested regardless. Optically its great, and i noted down the serial number with the intention of asking what info i can learn about when it was made etc... From just the serial number.

The number is, UU0312 Anyone have anywhere i can find info on this from?

Thanks in advance guys,

your welcome

sounds great, i'd give all the rings a good rotate and check inside for dust specks/fungus and see if it comes with 3/6months warranty for peace of mind

maybe take a camera along and take some snaps to check at home?

apart from that it sounds like a bargain

i take it, its the f4/L Non-IS?

oh i presumed it'd be 2.8 so maybe it's not such a bargain?

Yep if its in good condition its a good price, normally £350 ish on here.

Yeah it looks pretty good. Il get a few test shots before deciding anything. Im after the IS version, but this might be too good to miss out on for a spare lens etc. Also, since IS doesn't apply when filming on DSLR's it would work perfect for that too.
