Canon LCD screen big difference

I just got my 1DmkIII and one thing I have noticed in comparison with my 7D is how much worse the LDC screen is on the 1D. I have got used to being able to check on the 7D if the image is pin sharp but on the 1D this is very hard as the image on the screen is very soft and has not much sharp detail. Is this normal? (images on my main computer screen seem fine so it's not an image issue).
I know the 1D is 230,000 res and the 7D 920,000 but I wasn't expecting it to be as different.

Is there anything in the settings that can sharpen up the screen in the 1D?

TBH, I think it just reflects the improvements in the quality of LCD displays in the nine years since the 1D was launched.

edit: Ah, I just spotted the MkIII in the first sentence, but as I understand it the 7D sets a high benchmark.

Yes, the step up between the old screens used on the 4D, 1D3 and 5D compared to the 50D, 1D4 and 7D is amazing.
