Canon lens and extender help needed

I'm thinking of slimming down my lens collection and part of this will be to use my favourite 70/200 2.8L and 28/70 2.8L as walk around lenses.

I think this will cover nearly everything that I shoot but occasionally I like to use a 300mm. So, my question is, if I bought a 1.4 converter and fitted it to the 70/200 what aperture will i have through the range?

I will be using this set up on a Canon 7d.

Thank you.

I often use a Canon 1.4x on my 70-200mm f4L and it's a very flexible option which offers 98-280mm on my 70D crop-sensor. Aperture on your f2.8L would then be f4.

A Canon 2x Extender will work well on your f2.8L 70-200mm version lens too.

And if you ever have another question about extenders, the general rule is easy. Multiply both the focal length and the aperture by the extender factor. So for example a 300mm f/2.8 with a 2x extender is 600mm f/5.6. Simples!
