Canon Lens Help Please

Is this a bargain do you reckon or does the price just reflect it is a cr@p lens?

I'd love a wide angle lens (after feeling my 50mm wasn't enough on my hols) but am a little short of cash ... was hoping this might be a good (not expecting miracles) midway point.

Any advice?

The lens would come from America, so you could get stung for import duty and VAT when it arrives.

I'm afraid I can't comment on the lens you linked to, but wondered if you have considered a Canon 18-55mm IS? They can be picked up for a similar amount and always tend to receive good reviews for the money.

Mmm seems a bit on the cheap side. Really can't comment on the quality.

Do you have a kit lens? Why don't you look out for a second hand 18-55? Loads of people sell these cheap when they upgrade their glass,

The 18-55mm is a good idea (thanks for reminding me), I didn't buy the kit lens opting for ones more specific to what I originally wanted to focus on (food photography) but have really gotten into photographing all kinds of different things too and it's turning into an expensive hobby

Canon kit lens, IS version, is really very good and brilliant value. I really wouldn't touch that Cosina (although they do make some good stuff).

You can pick up a used 18-55 IS in the Classifieds here for about £70. You'd be mad not to...
