Canon Lens 'IS'

Am I right in thinking that the 'IS' technology of Canon lens is in the lens itself?

And if this is the case would the said IS work with an EOS 1 camera from late 1990's?

In other words the more modern digital camera have different connections to the lens or more power in the body to make the IS technology work effectively. :shrug:

Simple - yes it is in the lens and will work with older Eos cameras!

slightly longer answer is yes, it will work, but as it's an additional power draw, it will reduce the battery life slightly - bearing in mind 2cr5 batteries are non-rechargable and not exactly cheap, using something like the BP-E1 that'll take rechargeable AA batteries can help here

Hmmmm, I picked the list off the Canon USA website :shrug:

Edit...I think maybe the "55" and "50E" are the same thing but badged differently for other markets

Thanks for the info chaps

Although I did struggle with some of the model numbers in the list Canonbob but then sussed it was an American list
Well my EOS1n RS is on there so I am ok.
