Canon Lens Repair Recommendations

Hi, fairly new to the forum, although been lurking for a while.

Wondering if someone can recommend a lens repair service? I've got a Canon 17-40mm F4 lens that I recently dropped. Everything seems to still work but something msut have broken inside as its developed a rattle.

I'd prefer to use a recommended company as opposed to just picking one off random from the web - so was hoping someone may have a good experience with someone specific.

Failing that, I'll just pick someone off the Canon approved list.

When a skier landed on my 17-40 I sent it to Fixation and they sorted it out for me.
 
Thanks for such quick repsonses - I'll check them both out and let you know how I get on with whoever I use.
 
I wouldn't touch Lehmans with a barge pole. Heard too many negative things about them. Stick with fixation or canon elstree.

Another shout for Canon Elstree from me. Did get a quote from Lehmanns but it was twice as much as Elstree wanted!

I second this, Sent a 100-400 for a new friction ring, Phoned me to say the focus motor was faulty, It worked ok when I sent it to them, Ended up costing me £300, Never again, Canon Elstree if there's a next time.

Canon @ Elstree will just repair Canon stuff. Sigma offer their own repair service and from posts on here I've read, it appears to be very good service.
 
So between Canon Elstree and Fixation which is more cost effective? I've used Fixation and they did a professional job but got the impression they were pretty snobby about serving non-professional customers...

Also do you have to be one of their CPS members or whatever to send lenses to Canon?

Sorry have no idea about this stuff!

Canon Elstree for me too if I remember correctly they charged me £130 for a full service on my 100-400 which needed new friction ring
They did fixed price service for mine and it came back better than ever :clap:
I had not noticed that it was not quite as sharp as it used to be but could see the difference when I got it back
 
Anybody used A J Johnstone? Listed on Canon's website as recommended repair centre although not CPS.

I'm impressed already as they've replied to me out of working hours.

In in Glasgow and I'd send anything to fixation lol
