I took this image today after recieving my new 1.4tx. The weather is poor outside today, not very good light. I think this image should be sharper? ?

Do you agree???? Any help/advice would be greatfully recieved

In DPP I have moved the Sharpness to No. 8. brightness nown a touch. That's all.

looks sharp to me, what are you expecting with a TC and 1/30 shutter speed???

the tc will cut the image quality down quite a lot
 
It wasn't hand held as such, rested it on my window. I don't know, I was just thinking it should be better...... But if you guys recon its ok. just thought the Prime 300 would give me more
 
get your shutter speed up slightly.. maybe try something other than f16 :) then post a 100% crop straight from the camera.. only then can we judge if the lens is sharp :)

It looks sharp enough to me. Just needs a little boost of contrast, and a levels tweak.

I agree with others to get the speed up. Also with Gerods, a bit of a tweak in Curves and levels.

Get the camera on a tripod and take a photo of a page from a newspaper in a well-lit room. Photos like your last one are of no help in determining sharpness.
 
that last shot really isn't an ideal shot to be judging lens or tc quality by, try find something brighter with more defined detail
fwiw I would be pleased with the quality of the first at that shutter speed
 
OK thanks. I will wait for a brighter day and retest on a tripod with a magazine. Many thanks for your input and time people.......
 
Not seen the pic but I have always been told/understood that its best to "try" and keep the shutter speed above the focal length, e.g focal length of 300mm use 1/320th

dropping down to 1/30 maybe risky handheld with a TC also
