canon lens to fit Nikon

Hi all

Maybe a daft question, but im looking ot get a tilt shift lens. Nikon tilt shifts second hand seem rarer than hens teeth! however, there is a lovely canon 45mm lens.

If I get the canon, can I get a converter so it fits my Nikon, if so, will I lose any IQ, ot tilt shift ability

The flange distance will not allow you to use it properly.
Canon flange distance is 44mm, Nikon is 46.5.

You would need to get the Canon lens 2.5mm closer to the camera for it to work properly- so break the lens mount or cut off some of the camera mount!


I don't know how this would affect the mirror but I wouldn't want to risk any damage.
On the other hand, Nikon lenses can be mounted on Canon bodies with a thin, 2.5mm, adaptor.

A reasonable option is to buy a Nikon mount TS adapter for Pentax 645 lenses. You'd then be able to source some good P645 lenses (and Pentacon Six mount lenses) giving you a variety of focal lengths and all for the price of a pukka (used) PC-E lens. The only restriction is that you're unlikely to get anything wider than 35mm.
