Anyone use one?

Are they any good or do they just get in the way?

Much prefer the Op/Tech straps. Check out Speed Graphic. Besides being a nice wide strap with a shock loader you can unclip it if its getting in the way & use the small straps which click together.

Optech pro classic user myself, better than any of the Canon cheesewires.

I use an Optech on my 5D2 with grip and 100-400L :D

Did you get the origional style classic or one of the newer ones with a shaped shoulder pad.

The origional is by far tougher than the new ones. Mind you at the end of the day it is a matter of personal preference.

:D

The Canon one is just a plain band, black and grey, consistent width over its whole length, ie no shoulder pad. The Optech one has a shaped foamy shoulder pad that is sewn onto the rest of the strap. Whilst the seams are 100% intact, the foam is tearing.

I use the canon one, and whilst the optech one is more comfy, it can't take the weight - mine has started to rip where the spongy material meets the strap.

Do you use the camera strap on it's own or lens strap on it's own or both?

thanks

Is this for your 300 f2.8 ? I tried the Optech on mine and went back to the Canon one, as mentioned previously seems indestructable.

Yep, it's no great big issue but it's a fair weight to hang off the end of a lens mount so I think I'll get one.
