I am a bit concerned why most canon pro lenses have 8 aperture blades :shake:

Nikon, Tokina and even Sigma seem to be putting in 9 blades that give much better 18-pointed sunstars when shooting stopped down, and more circular bokeh wide open. 8 blades = short, dull 8-pointed stars :thumbsdown:
My 24-70 and 70-200 are pretty much unable to get any decent sunstars, and are put to shame by Tokina in that respect. 70-200 is particularly bad for sunstars and just can't digest some sunset scenes.
Only new 100mm L macro has 9. I am hoping to get one for a few more reasons.
17-40 and 16-35mm have 7 which is OK in a way since that makes 14 pointed stars. But the new tokina 17-35mm f/4 would seem like a better all-round lens than these two. Nikon pretty much has better glass all-round the range :shrug:
Well, I hope this is not a good enough reason to... jump the ship... for now. but why doesn't canon pay any attention to such small but apparently important details?
