Hello
I am new to the digital world so forgive me if this is a silly question.
I have bought a Canon 300d and I am 100% happy with it.
Now in future I would like another lens, I have read a few bits and bobs about them now have I got this right.
Any Canon auto focus SLR lens will fit the 300d even the film ones?
And how do I tell the ones that fit and ones that dont?

All EOS lenses will fit, EF and EF-S mount.

Old FD manual lenses won't.

Exactly :)

Umm.. if you get an adapter to mound FD/FL lenses on EOS, one of two things will happen:
- Adapter without optics: Good IQ but won't focus very far, really works only for macro
- Adapter with "optics": You'll hate the pictures.

So don't.. stick with the EF/EF-S lenses OR study up on old manual lenses and "flange focal distance" before going the adapter route :)

A low end canon DSLR can work wonders with lots of older MF lenses, but Canon ones are not really suitable.

They'll be better than some low end Nikon bodies with some old Nikon lenses. Which seems a bit weird. Especially as Canon cut the reins and Nikon tried to maintain 'compatibility' when AF came along.

So can I tell just by looking at them?
I often go to the car boot and often see very nice film cameras but would need to be certain the lenses would fit
Would it be a case of any Eos will fit assuming its a Canon lens as some one said Sigma etc may not work?
