Canon Lenses

Hi Guys im after a little advice, im fairly new to the photography scene and currently have a Canon 40D, with a 18-55mm and a 55-250mm lenses (Both kit ones) im looking at getting two lenses to replace these and have been looking at the following:
Tamron 10-24mm (f3.5-4.5 SP Di II LD)

To replace the 18-55mm, looking for a wide angle for good landscape and seems a lovely lens.

AND to replace the 55-250mm either of these (I want it to have stabalisation due to the zoom):
Tamron 70-300mm (f4-5.6 SP Di VC USD)

Or This Tamron 28-300mm (F3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD)

Can i get some advise of whether people think these are good lenses or advise other to go for is they think these are not that good, thanks guys.

The Tamron 10-24 is by general consensus the least well regarded of the UWA lenses

Most people regard the Sigma 10-20mm very highly although having owned that and the Canon 10-22mm the latter gets my vote

Not so sure about the next two although I did read a good review of the 70-300 VC in a magazine and seems to be better than the Canon version in the same focal length. Only problem would be the gap between about 20mm and 70mm, quite a well used length or at least by me anyway

well i was thinking of getting the 70-300mm, but seeing the 28-300mm i thought that would be berrter as it gives me the 28-70 focal length inadition to the other one.
Just not sure if pushing all that in for not much more in price is gonna make it a cheaper and worse lens.
But im not made of money and need a good lens for £300-£50 max really.

The 55-250 is a very good lens for it's price. I don't think either of these would be much of an upgrade for how much it would cost. Better saving up for some 2.8's or so. I'm really not all that clued up on lenses but personally I wouldn't waste the money for the minor up in quality.

i do like the lens but not the feel, it feels and looks plasticy (i know thats cause it is) and want to get a better feeling/looking/performing lens.
plus want a wide angle for lovely landscape pics. rather than the relitivly shallow view from the 18-55mm

Try downloading Exposure Plot. This is a program which will quickly show you what focal lengthes you use most. This may help with your choice.

Tamron is not the best in build quality, but they are known for excellent glass. Usually their lenses only fall back on loud and slow AF and plastic build quality, everything else is superb for the money they cost.

After owning 17-50 2.8 for two years it was my most favorite lens. Only sold it because it could not take the heavy use. But now I'm thinking of getting the 10-24 as it looks like a great lens to have.
