Hey peeps, I currently have a canon 600d with standard kit lens and the 50mm 1.8 which I mainly use the most.

I like to photograph a range of things really but mainly macro, portraits, buildings and general scenes, so quite a range within distance.

After loving the 50mm 1.8 so much Ive decided to get the 50mm 1.4, Im also after another lens that will be good for majority of all other shots I like to take, so I can kind of keep it as my main lens and not have to swap every 5 minutes. I have been doing some research and watched endless youtube videos and Im really liking the Canon 17-55mm f2.8. Whats your thoughts and opinions on this lens and would it be a good lens for me to invest in or do you recommend others for what I will be using it for.?

Your help would be much appreciated

Emma

Hi Emma

The Canon 17-55IS lens is a very good lens and well respected, but it does carry a price tag. The new Canon 15-85IS might be worth a look at, along with the Tamron and Sigma equivalent.

Depends on budget really, if you can afford it, then I would say go for the Canon 17-55IS lens

Since you already have a 50 f1.8 and considering getting an f1.4, which would cover your indoor usage. You might consider a Canon 15-85 for everyday use, it's not f2.8, but a very good lens and cheaper than the 17-55. :)
