Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue/quirk that both my genuine Canon LP-E6 battery chargers exhibit.

When charging batteries, often the light will never go green - to show a fully charged battery, yet as soon as you touch the charger or battery it will go green.

I thought it was just coincidence, that I always go to disconnect the charging battery JUST AS it finishes charging, but this is happening wayyy too frequently for this to be the case. Last night I had 2 genuine LP-E6's charging in 2 genuine Canon chargers, both had been charging for about 2 hours solid... the light was flashing red three times to indicate 75%+ charge - I walked over to the chargers, and tapped both batteries softly with my hand...both instantly turned green to 100% charge.

Any ideas?!

I don't have that happen with both of my Canon chargers but I have a Delkin Power twin charger and that does the same thing all the time. I only use genuine batteries but I rarely use the Canon chargers as I use grips all the time so I charge in pairs all the time which is why I got the twin charger. Once I put the batteries in the cameras and check the levels in the menu it shows they are 100% with all green lights so I guess it must just be one of those things.

I have had this occur intermittently, and assume that the charger is detecting the voltage of the battery to determine if it's fully charged and touching the battery improves the connection and hence the voltage. Maybe the contacts on the charger and or battery need cleaning ?

I have also noticed that if you allow a fully charged battery to cool down for a few minutes, that it will continue charging despite showing as being fully charged.

Guess that the chargers are not precise instruments and can report a battery as being fully charged when it meet a range of conditions.

There have been a number of concerns about this charger.

Have a look on the Canon web site www.canon.co.uk and tap in LP-E6 in the search box. There's a few bits in there about charging etc

Got two in our house and never noticed that, didn't with the one that I had with my now sold 7D either
