Yes
Has anyone tried either the Neewer or Duracell LPE6 batteries? Are they any good??
I cant find real Canon ones anywhere. They have the high capacity ones but your paying twice the price for 20% more capacity so a con IMHO. I'd rather have two lower capacity ones as that way I have spares.

Been using a couple of Duracell copies after all my Canon ones started showing 3 red dots (still work OK but I'm not inclined to trust them too much)

Seem to work just fine- especially at the price.

Don't know how Canon justify the price of the new LPE6NH

D

Thank you both. Duracell it is then. As you say David the high capacity Canon ones are taking the ........... ;)

i have been using Duracell for over a year and never had any problems. Bought a pair and also bought the usb charger which comes in handy at times.Bought from Duracell direct uk

Been using both Duracell & Neewer - no issues with either. You do need to watch out which Duracell variant though. The LP-E6 equiv (DRC9943 I think it is) should be about £15-20 each the LP-E6N equiv about £30. Don't be fooled the LP-E6N equiv lasts way longer than the LP-E6 one (not just 5% as the capacity might imply)

Canon have deleted both the LP-E6 & LP-E6N from sale - pointless for them to carry 3 product lines that are essentially identical.

Carmarthen had the genuine Canon LP-E6NH a while back for under £100 - cheapest I've seen them as non-grey (plus free P&P)

I once bought a non Canon substitute but it held less than half the charge; I have always bought genuine Canon since and consider it well worth the extra.

Canon do not manufacture batteries themselves, their batteries are made by which ever third party company who wins the tender process.

Third party are great value among as the Canon camera will recognise them.
I am not sure of the situation regarding the latest R line up of cameras.

So which ever brands works well in the body will be the best choice, regardless of how charge itvwill give you.

I have 4 Canon batteries which I rotate in my EOS 7Dii and R7 including 1 EP E6H

Dont have mirrorless yet, newest camera is probably the 90d or 5d4. Not sure about going mirrorless, think I'd need to try and see if it works for me, I'm a bit old fashioned.

Hello.
I have two basically unused LPE 6N batts if you are interested.

Ok DSLR's should be ok with third party latter's as I have 2 I use in my 7Dii and mirrorless R7....
When I getvhome I will put the make on this thread.

Yes I’ve always used third party batteries they have always worked fine in my Canon DSLR and mirrorless

I use Neewer on my 7Dii and M50.
They have always worked perfectly, at a fraction of the cost of Canon ones

I use Enegon's on my 80D and M50ii and I haven't had any issues with them, good battery life too.

Me too
And my favourite thing about third party set up is that a charger half the size and weight of the canon original will plug into USB and charge 2 batteries at once.

Where the Canon chargers can be more picky about what batteries they’ll choose to charge, 3rd party chargers are better in every way.

yes that’s true , I was using the 7 day shop charger it could charge 2 batteries at once , it’s started misbehaving so have gone back to the Canon one but I did notice that quite a few of the 3rd party makers do a package of 2 batteries and a charger will go for that next time I need a couple of batteries :)

To revive this thread I have an interesting observation about the Duracell replacement batteries mentioned above.

Recently while using my R7 with a Duracell battery I got the impression that the H+ frame rate - using first curtain electronic was a bit slow

On testing I discovered it was running in both the mechanical shutter modes at 9fps - the electronic shutter modes were unaffected.

I then tried a genuine Canon LPE6 from 2019 that’s been on one red bar health for ages - and the mechanical modes were back to 15fps

I carried out these tests a few times all under the same conditions/ lens / exposure etc and am quite sure this was a real effect

So if you like to use your R7 in H+ mode with mechanical shutter - and who wouldn’t - be warned

D

The older LPE6 batteries do not support the high speed shooting modes on the R7.

I have a couple left over from my original 7D which are genuine Canon and still healthy in terms of charge capacity, but don't work on the high speed modes.
I have a couple left over from my 7D Mark II which are genuine Canon and still healthy in terms of charge capacity, and these do work on the high speed modes.
and I have a genuine R7 battery as well.

Ohhh, interesting. I dont have an R7 but I do have a 90d with 15fps, I'll have to try it and see if it works or not.

I only use genuine Canon hardware if only to support the brand. We are sooo lucky to have all this 'stuff' to yearn for and buy and use! But I did buy two cheapos (I forget what hey were) but they didn't hold charge too well so I bought a new Canon LP-E6NH rechargeable battery photospecialist.co.uk . . . aaa Rotated 2Y3A2391.JPG

Been using Neewer charger and Batteries for a couple of years in My R5, 7D and now 7D Mk2 no issues.

I have 3 genuine ones from canon from the 3 cameras then 2x neewer and 1x hanhal bought back many many years ago with the 7D. It still works but its just a back up

I think Neewer do say in the information that the H+ shooting is slightly slower with 3rd party batteries

cost/benefit just doesn't add up on the genuine canon ones.

yes agree the 3rd party ones are almost as good for a fraction of the price, a few years ago I bought a few 3rd party ones for a trip for the price of 1 canon genuine one they are still good
