I have a 1.4 MkII and am planning to get a x2 MkIII. Is the MkIII designed to work primarily with the MKII lens versions and what are its advantages over the MkII.

I have a 2x MkIII and it's streets ahead of the MkII. I can't tell you why but I'm sure if you looked it up on the Canon website it would tell you?

Hah yeh had to use both extenders stacked for my owl shots, tis only a little 300 though :/
 
I'm not so sure you can stack all the MkIII's.................best check if that's what you intend to do?
 
No you can't stack the MkIIIs together (i.e. a 1.4x and 2x).

You can stack the 1.4X or 2X III behind the 2X II. You cannot stack either the 1.4X II or the 2X II behind the 2X III. The opening in the back of the Mk III is just a little smaller in diameter and not quite as deep as the Mk II.

If you have a third-party teleconverter that does not have a protruding element in the front, you can stack it behind almost anything including the Mk II and many other lenses that normally don't accept a teleconverter.

Thanks Peter. I can't imagine that I will stack them. If i can't get it with 1000mm than its too far away.
