Had my first go with the Canon MP-E 65 f/2.8 1-5X macro lens.

It's a bit different to anything I've used before and with no flash I was really just trying to get to grips with it and finding things small enough to fit in the frame seems to be half the battle.

Anyway - here's a few shots none of which are cropped.

A bit of a penny

Looking forward to having another go when I've some light and a bit more time to set something up.

Any tips or pointers would be welcome especially with regards to lighting....

TBH you really need a MT-24ex to get the best from the MP-e at high magnifications, you can get away with a off camera flash for lower magnification.

Thanks Paul

I had a look and that's quite an outlay as I only have the lens for a few weeks.

I think for now I might have to settle for some DIY options.

Hey welcome to the extreme close up club and I hope you enjoy as much as I do mine ;) finding the object in the viewfinder above 3x is half the battle ;)

I know. Finding the objects within the available dof as well as from side to side.

It's addictive though.
