I don't think that you'd learn too much by opening it up, Kevin. The MT-24 has a single capacitor and charging circuit (clearly that's operating) and the leads from the flash portion of each head are very much sealed in place making swapping a tiresome process unless you revert to cutting and soldering. Each head has its own coil and semiconductor but everything else is on a common PCB.
If you do decide to delve inside, I can give you details of the positions of the case clips once the screws have been removed but I suspect it's probably a job for Canon.
