Canon Pixma iP 5000 and Vista or Windows 7

Hello folks

Anyone out there with this dilemma?

I cannot seem to find the necessary patches and the drivers will not work in Vista.

A mate of mine also has the iP 5000 and he is in a similar situation as he now runs Windoze 7.

Any takers?

Windoze 7 might need to go online to Msoft for an update for your printer to work, not sure about vista.

According to the Microsoft Windows 7 compatibility site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

the iP5000 is compatible with W7 32 bit & 64 bit but needs a download from Canon, the link is on the results page.

Vista might be the same

try the win7 drivers for the vista install as well, it may work

I was down for a day or two with a horrible flu but seem to be getting over it now...so sorry for responding only now.

Driver for Vista and the add on module for vista, windows 7 will work with the vista driver..

OK, maybe it is the flu but I feel rather stupid...I have downloaded the software from the Canon US site and would like to know if anyone here is brave enough to give me a run through of the whole procedure...bearing in mind I have Vista 64 bit, the printer with driver disc and about 3 or 4 downloads from MS sites, Canon US and Canon Europe...
