It's not a feature I've ever used, so the lead is in the box which is in the loft. The camera manual is on another computer too so I can't access it easily at the moment. If I remember, I'll have a look in there (the manual) and see if that tells me any more.

I was wrong! The box wasn't in the loft, it's in the pile waiting to go up.
The image shown on the TV is exactly the same as that on the screen of the camera, although the camera's screen goes blank when the cable is plugged into the camera. The icons can be set to vanish after 5 or 6 seconds but a press of the DISP. button on the camera toggles that between that and always displayed.
