G12, my choice too I think. I've had a G7 for yonks, fabulous camera.

As for the SX40, I'm never too happy with an enormous zoom range, compromise creeps in, something must be sacrificed.

Also a Canon DSLR can be had for roughly the same money.

I haven't used the SX40 but I do own a G12, it's a brilliant camera and capable of superb results.

Cheers for the replys, i wouldnt be buying it from jessops just the first site i came to with both cameras on it, i used to own a g10 and had great results from it, It wouldnt be for me as i have the 7D, it would have been for the mrs and dont really want to get a dslr cos she would keep steeling my lenses ;)
