Canon repair - how long?

Hi

Does anyone know how long Canon take to typically repair a camera? The lens locking pin on my 1DIV has jammed and so it won't stay attached to a lens.

I am due to be away in about 10 days and am wondering whether to try and get it to Elstree (or another authorised repair centre) before I go away or wait until I return.

Are you a member of their CPS thingy service? Kipax had his 1Div turned around pretty swiftly recently under his membership.

I am a CPS Member so it may be worth a call tomorrow. Perhaps I'll box it up tonight and hope they can give me positive news on timing.

If you post it to them tomorrow most likely you have it back by the end of the week.

My 5d2 was turned round in 3 days through CPS.

Deffo give them a bell, I sent mine UPS and it was returned UPS.

Shame my 100-400L wasn't done via CPS they took 7 weeks to get it back to me LOL

had exact same problem wiht a mkIII .. quick easy turnaround.. just had a bit of a do with them this week though.. send it in monday if i was you.. they only start the 3 days.. the day AFTER they recieve it ... sent a lens on tuesday and it isnt back yet

Sent my 1D IV and 70-200 lens in a couple of weeks ago. Posted it Tuesday 11am and got it back Friday 2pm.

If you have gold or platinum CPS they give you a loaner if yours is not ready within 2 or 3 days.

Elstree did me a shutter replacement on a 1Ds in 4 working days (they received it Monday, I got it back first thing Thursday) and that was without being a CPS member.

Thanks for the encouragment to send the camera. Came back yesterday all sorted. Shame I then fractured and dialocated my shoulder and am writing this from hospital. Won't be going to Scotland after all.
