Canon right angle viewfinder

Hello, I was wondering if there is a big difference between a original Canon right angle viewfinder and an aftermarket one and if so what would that be. I usually try to stay with Canon products but this is something that I will not use a lot and there is a huge difference is price. (50 vs 200 usd).

Only used the Seagull version, but like you I only wanted it for the odd occasion and it does all that I need very well. Perhaps the Canon is built better or might give a clearer view, don't think any improvement would justify the price difference though
 
Thanks for the info. May I ask, is it a clear view. You see I will use this for landscape and macro shots. With landscapes I shoot low to the ground and at night so being able to see clearly without good lighting to focus is important. I'm with you on the price, just need to make sure it will work for my purpose. Thanks again.
 
I have tried it for macro and it was fine, can't comment on low light, never used it for that. Perhaps get one from Amazon and if it doesn't suit send it back for a refund
 
I think it will be fine. Like I said it won't get a ton of use but it will be handy when I do need it. Thanks a lot for all your help with this. I really hate buying things I don't know anything about. You been a big help.

I see Hoodman make one too, but its about $130 and looks pretty much the same as the Seagull version to me. Did see that a couple of reviewers said they use it on a telescope for night skies so should be fine for your low light landscape work

Hi Shayne

I used to have the Canon version and was very pleased with it, very solid built and worked as it should, but hardly used it, so sold it on...I had great plans to use it for this / that and the other, but generally never did, hence why I sold it on.
