This model has been out for a few months now and I was just wondering if anyone has one and what their impressions are of it. Also is it a worthwhile upgrade from the S95?

I have had the S95 and played with the S100 at work and it isn't much different to the S95. If you are happy with the S95 then I'd stick with that! I did take some test shots and they were pretty good but so is the S95.

My take on it is that it isn't worth going from the S95 to S100 but if you have a S90 (as I do) then it makes a good upgrade :)

I had a quick play with one today
Wow, awesome

Was amazed it could take pic really close to subject too

Does the s100 not have the better CMOS sensor?

I wouldn't necessarily agree with this. The S90 and S95 are very similar. Same lens, sensor, general features etc whereas the S100 has new lens with 5x zoom, new CMOS sensor, new processor (digic 5), GPS, full HD video...

I would say the S100 is a worthwhile upgrade from an S90 or an S95, but the S95 is not worth an upgrade from an S90.

I'm just going to stick with my S90, the IQ is still good for a compact.

What's a guide price for a used s95?

Digital rev sell s100 at £285 at the mo

Thanks

Keeping my eyes peeled as that's my budget region and maybe go for xz-1

S100 is on my shopping list too

I was going to go the GF2 or GF3 but decided no need to carry my EF lenses after all so will go the S100 route.
with f2.0 wide angle and shooting RAW all good :-)

Old thread but thought I would ask in here rather than starting a new one! I have an s100 but there I quite a bit of upward /downward play on the zoom ring. Is this normal? Probably is as wouldn't expect it to fit too tightly.
