Alright Guys.. what settings would you guys recommenced for indoor shots with my S95?

took it out tonight for a friends birthday in a restaurant, when i used the flash seem to over expose peoples faces.. it was like the flash was too strong

what settings do you guys use?

On my S90 I have the C mode set to AV @f4, ISO 400, flash on and zoomed in a bit. I've found that you need to experiment a bit with the flash fall off, too close it is too bright, too far too dark, so I've set the zoom so it's about right for framing a few people together.
 
When I used to have a Canon G11 I used to dial down the flash by a 1/3 of a stop and the camera pretty much lived in Program mode, Auto ISO, with the saturation boosted and i-Contrast enabled.

Only if I wanted a long exposure would I change it to Tv, I've always thought Av mode on a compact is a bit like a chocolate teapot - useless!
 
Ive never been able to work out the flash settings, whatever I do it seem too powerful.
In low light I generally use the low light mode which I think is one of the S95's best features. It eliminates noise by compressing the size of the image and I use it at night without flash regularly.
