I have an out-of-warranty Canon Powershot S95 that has developed a lens error. When turned on the lens extends a few mm before stopping and lots of clicking like it's jumping the teeth on a gear.
It hadn't suffered any major trauma, but it's possible it turned itself on while in a case in my pocket. From searching this forum and the internet in general this appears to be a relatively common issue with s-series powershots.
Does anyone know roughly the cost of repair for (probably) a new lens assembly? Also can anyone recommend a repair centre?
I'm a bit confused since the Canon website lists some authorised repairers along with the Canon centre at Elstree, but when I try to call them I get through to a callcentre who can only give me details for the other 3rd party repair centres. How can I contact Elstree to see if they can repair it? I Want to get this fixed ASAP as it has failed the day after my baby daughter was born and I dont want to miss out on too many Christmas memories!
Cheers,
Ryan.
