canon shutter count remind me please

if an jpeg or raw image shows a count as 100-4978 does that mean its been round the block one reached 9999 then started again so in fact it will be 14987?????

No, my 1 month old 500D is at 100- 3518 and it hasn't been round the block.

mine seems to allways say 100_XXXX and that has been round the block a couple of times now... worth downloading EOSinfo that will give you a propper count

Hi got astrojargon, tried using foxbat, opanda and a few others, some others think that 100-***** means it's been round the block.


so if as our friends 1 month old camera says all ready 100-**** then i take it that must be the count, and the 100 is meaningless ????

on quite a few canons the shutter count software doesnt work and requires a trip to canon to be worked out.

is there a reason why youre suspicious about the shutter count?

The 100 will, as I an says, be the folder number. My GF1 has produced folders named 100_Pan, 101_Pan etc with file names 101_xxx and so on.
