I have experienced four shutter lock ups over the last few days. I have a 40d. Is it worth getting my Camera services or could this be more serious?
It seems to be ok once I turn the camera off then back on again but obviously this us not right.
Any suggestions where best to service it?

Cheers carl

Maybe a couple of things to try: is the battery fully charged or is it getting low? Have you checked and perhaps tried cleaning the lens contacts?

It could, unfortunately, be the early signs of shutter failure, however.

happened on my 1dmkIII a couple of weeks ago.. did it a few times.. then one day it stopped alltogether at a game and I couldnt get it to shoot.. but then ok when i got home..

sent to canon who cleaned the shutter mechanism (£74) replaced a washer (9 pence) and billed me £94... working perfect now and got a shutter count as well.

Sounds very similar. May have to send it off soon I think otherwise it will let me down when I most need it.
