Canon -Sigma

I'm thinking about trading my 70-200 F4l and 1.4x teleconvertor for a Sigma 120-300 F2.8 and eventually a Sigma 1.4x,has anybody done the same,would it be a wise move? I will be shooting mainly Superbike racing and other motorsports

I had a 70 200 f4 and got a sigma 120 300 os and I would say it is definitely a worth it. Although the canon is a fantastically good sharp lens, with a 1.4x tele it drops to a 280mm f5.6 where as the sigma is 300mm 2.8. The o.s. is also very good.
The down side is it's a lot more expensive if you buy the new o.s version and it is quite heavy compared to the canon.

I swapped my Sigma 150-500 for a 120-300 f2.8 which I use with both 1.4 and 2X TC's mainly for birding but shot these at Donnington.

I'd say its a very good plan provided you go for the OS version, its a lot better than the original version
