Canon speedlite 430ll

When using wireless with my 600D there is a red light on the flash this us flashing all the time, I've seen no mention of if its possible to turn this off, are you able to or do you just have to put up with it.

This tells you that the flash is in "Slave" mode

But is there any way of turning this off, you have to run it in slave mode on the 600D for it to work, and the same for any other wireless use I would say. It's a pain in the butt and distracting, can I put tape over it or will it interfere with the reviever

Whatever you do will interfere with it. Suck it up and deal with it.

You can put tape over it, it's only the AF assist lamp. E-TTL sensor is the darker window above.

i Had a look in custom functions and there is no way to turn it off there. Looks like some tape then.:thumbsdown:

I turned it off? I turned it back on again though in the end, I didn't find it distracting and it helps with focusing (which is of course why its there...)

That's the focus-assist light. The annoying slave mode flashing light is something different.
