I have an old Canon Speedlite 300EZ.

It will physically fit a D90 but, my question is will it work and more importantly will it do any damage to the D90?

Old flashes can fry the electronics on newer models. Some people do it, and don't have any problems, but persoanlly I wouldn't risk it. Technically a Canon flash can work on a Nikon body (I think?), but if memory serves it needs some pins taping over, and will only work in manual.

Hi Dave,
I think classcams is referring to the idea of sticking Canon gear on a Nikon (not necessarily in case it does any damage). ;)

I personally wouldn't stick anything of another make onto your camera unless it's been designed for it (like Metz strobes for example). It would work off-camera in slave mode if you were using wireless triggers but I doubt if it'd work properly on camera.

Best bet would be to sell the Canon flash and buy something like an SB600.
Hope that helps,
Si
