Canon strap question

Recently bought a Canon 5D (Mk1) and dedicated battery grip. 5D comes with a standard wide Canon strap with loud advertising for me.

I quite fancy a basic thin camera strap, any advice/experience appreciated!

Got rid of the Canon one as soon as I could:shake:

Don't have a grip on mine but my Optech Pro strap is excellent

Interpreting your post - you don't like Canon badging, fair enough.
As to THIN - I'd rethink that one. You want comfortable.
As mentioned Optech make a range of straps with good support, good call.
FYI they come branded too though....

I agree on the optech route. I used my canon strap from my old eos30 it was softer than the new ones.

I have just got a red optech pro strap and its great, the strap is thin at the ends but thick just around your neck with neoprene for softness and little rubber grips to stop it slipping, I love mine!

Don't see why the manufactorers don't produce a decent strap for Lenses and bodies when your spending x amount on kit, Black Rapids seem to be they way to go

Canon camera straps are migraine inducing with all that weight on your neck.

Look for a 3rd party strap that goes across the body. But don't get a thin one! It'll be like cheesewire on your neck.

I agree regarding the Canon wide straps, not only are they too brash but very uncomfortable. I used to manage very well with the Canon straps that came with the New F-1 or T-90, the former was light grey and the latter dark grey with a discrete Canon logo on the back of the neck and a velvet inner for comfort and grip. I think I've still got some somewhere. Even better were the straps from the Mamiya 7 and I may still have one of those as well. I should use them...

Yup blackrapid here too! Jessops have them go give them a try u won't ever use a neck strap again!

I'd recommend the BlackRapid too. Even with a 1Dmk3, 70-200 f2.8 and a 2 x TC I can walk about for hours without any discomfort.

Ian

Another  for the BlackRapid. I can carry a Sony A700 with a 70-200mm 2.8 attached and feel no discomfort.
