You could look at getting a USB extension cable (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Extension-Cable-Grey-3-0m/dp/B00005V39A) to add length to your existing lead.

Hundreds of them on the bay, just search for usb cable and narrow it down from there.

Thanks all sorted, found a usb extension in the bits draw lol. but ordered one from the bay without a break in it. 99.9 % sorted for the event now. New DNP 40 printer using lightroom 3 tethered lovely jubbley lol. lets hope what they say is true, that they are like ATM machines and print me money LOL.

I use the long USB cable my son brought for his PS3 controller.
It's just a normal 20ft USB to mini USB cable and works perfectly.

good. Your usual cable + extension cable is your backup cable. ALL your cables need a backup

don't couple the extension to the 5m usb cable, it likely won't work, usb has a max length of 5m without an active extender.
