Canon tripod mound d for ef 100mm f2.8L

Hi,

After treating myself to a Novoflex focus rail (original cast one not the recent cheap one) for my 1:1 macro work I have been trying to work out if I should get the tripod mount for my lens or just use the one on the camera body?

Normally I would just purchase one but Canon want over £100 but I feel that is a lot to pay.

any advice?

There are 3rd party ones available, but it's not something I've looked at personally and I'd be wary over their construction and how they fit to the lens body - wouldn't want it scratching the lens.

I'd possibly keep an eye open for a 2nd hand one, maybe put a "wanted" post up on here ...

thanks I might just mount it to the camera body for now and bit the bullet later on in the year if I needs too

I bought one of these for mine, I got it just after the lens came out and it was one of the first 'pattern' mounts on the market. It's made a similar plastic to the lens body and I'm very happy with it. It is nice and solid, locks the lens tight, what more could you want. It also arrived really quickly.
