Canon vs Tokina vs Sigma.

I have a 7d currently matched to a 17-40 lens

I'd like to have a wider angle lens primarily for landscape use; the aperture therefore isn't too much of an issue.

I'm in a real dilema, which of the three do I go for?

Canon EF-S 10-20
Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6
Tokina 11-16.

All three get good reviews on a variety of web sites, all three are not too dissimilar price.

I doubt if there are any / many who have experience of each lined up against the other, but is there a general consensus as to which would be the best to go with the 7d.

I have the Tokina with my 50D. There are pros and cons with each but I believe the Canona and Tokina to be the best based on reviews. Bear in mind that the f2.8 is good for autofocus in low light or with filters.

I love the build quality of the Tokina and the optics.

The advantages of the Canon are the 10% wider angle and the close focussing distance is shorter.

I picked up a mint Tokina second hand which was a fair bit cheaper than the Canon would have been and I believe a much better lens than the Sigma. Also I could sell it tomorrow and probably for more than I paid as it's in short supply and high demand.

Tokina 11-16 - Much more flexible in terms of aperture and I'd direct you to your use of the word 'primarily'. Much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it;). It's also very sharp from centre to edge- what more do you want?:D

Don't let the lack of range put you off either- I wouldn't have thought there would be too many people walking around with their 10-20 at 20mm all day. Most will be at 11 or 10 and that's it.

Have used the Nikon 10-24 to compare and it wasn't as good- seems to be roughly the same as the Canon although it may not be as good head to head- not really looked into it.

I'm sure you'll get supporters of each.
