sorry this is copied from another forum with not much response,
right chaps, a bit of help over warranty with canon if you will,
i bought a canon f1.8 50mm less than 6 months ago, and the rear cover broke whilst on the camera and the autofocus jammed.
i took it back to jessops who said the they'd send it to the repair center, which i wasn't worried about one bit, safe in the knowledge that i had not caused this damage.
fast forward 4 weeks, and i call jessops as i'm waiting on this lens, and they tell me that they believe it was caused by impact damage, and id have to pay for the repairs if i want it fixed.
as you can imagine im a bit miffed, as i have never dropped it, or knocked or bumped it beyond what i would call reasonable wear and tear.
where do i stand really. should i call canon direct, as i do not want to foot the bill, as to be honest i dont have a great deal of cash spare untill pay day, and why should i pay for something i have not caused?? I knew they were a cheap lens, but i bought canon because i thought they would last longer.
someone has mentioned sales of good act also, what does it cover really?
alternatively anyone got a guide for fixing it myself? haha!
any help would be lovely chaps.
just to add also, after having a quick scan on google, it seems as though these lens dont last too long in any case?

Yes, it's not like Canon will have a rather larger legal department than the OP has.
