Hello,

Thinking of getting a wider lens but not to sure what, atm i have a 50mm 1.8 and just bought a 70-200mm f4 so i am looking for something to cover under the 50mm.

Zoom or prime, not to bothered, i enjoy using the 50mm. Is the 28mm 2.8 worth looking at as a cheap standing in for a while..?

Looking at spending about £200-250ish

Personally I don't see the point of primes of f2.8 or slower unless they are macro as zooms are so good these days.

Tamron 17-50mm f2.8? Or something wider?

No something like that is good, and the 2.8 all the way through is good. Will look up some stuff on it.

I know this goes a bit longer but any thoughts on the Sigma 18-125mm 3.5-5.6, the wide will be good but i am also looking for a lens to do the type of shots like the water droplets n such where i can focus closely and zoom.

Two birds with one stone..??
 
If you are going for shots like that it might be worth looking at the minimum focus distance and what you could actually achieve with each lens.

Tamron 17-50 sounds like a good plan, or Tokina 12-24mm if you prefer wider. That Sigma sounds like a very bad plan...

Extension tubes cost much..? N what do they do, heard people on about them but never looked into them, do they just let you focus closer..?
 
For that sort of money I would also recommend the Tammy 17-50mm f/2.8. If interested in Macro I can also recommend the Tammy 90mm f/2.8 both very good lenses.
 
If you don't need f/2.8, the 15-85 gets great reviews and goes wider and longer.
