Cant decide which lens for my D7000

Im looking at a new lens as im off on my travels soon which is a trip round europe and I did originally buy a 2nd hand lens recently which broke soon after sadly. (See tokina at-x pro 28-80mm) luckily I got a refund so Im wanting to buy a new lens this time...

I currently have a:
Nikon 18-105 kit lens
Nikon 35mm f1.8
Sigma 70-300

Im looking at a :

Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM for £368

or a

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG HSM £640

or a

Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 SP Di (Nikon AFD) £355

Now the point is im not totally sure what I want, as I do scenery shots but I do like all around shots eg cars and what Im mostly wanting to do portraits... so im more than open to suggestions if anyone can help. I have enough for the 2nd sigma but not enough for the glorious nikon 24-70 sadly

nikon dx 18-200 is all you need to go with your nikon 35mm 1.8
then sell the rest and get money back for your tour.
you dont want to carry too much kit
18-200 + 35mm prime = sorted

Ive thought of the 18-200 however I dont see the point in selling my 18-105 and my 70-300 for hat lens, I wont be taking my 70-300 and hopefully I wont be taking my 18-105 lens as well Im hoping either my 35 + new lens or my 35, 18-205 and 10-20 :S dont know which though ......I do like to take night shots so again the f2.8 would come in handy or do i get a 85mm prime lens for portraits ahhhh too many choices !! :)

Recently got the tamron (second hand) for my d3100 and its a super lens. Not the quickest at focusing but no slower than my kit lens. The one without the motor is supposed the focus quicker.

Hi Pete....the Sigma 10-20 and the Tamron 28-75 both get pretty good reviews on here each time they are mentioned....you would most likely pick up both second hand for about £550...that would give you pretty well all the coverage you wopuld need with your existing line up..

When are you off on your travels?

thinking about it actually you are quite right but Ive been put off the 2nd hand game after this recent purchase luckily I was able to send it back but that may not be the case next time :S ?

When are you off? I might be able to help you out with the buying second hand concerns with the Tamron and a Nikon UWA (12-24)...:thumbs:
 
Try again, not the greatest shots but 3 different type straight out of the camera except just converted to jpeg for upload.

Got this lens from mpb for £209 with 6 month warranty.

Edit: These look nowhere near as good as they do on my computer, must be photobucket compression.

wow an excellent deal by the looks of the quality of the photos!!! cheers for the upload! I think Im nearing my choice of that 2nd hand and the 10-20!

If you don't get fixed up before I return to the Uk early June I have a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and a Nikon 12-24 f4 you can try out. I'm not too far from you ....

Hi Pete

I will be back in the North East on June 17 so if you are not fixed up by then PM me and i will drop off the lenses to let you have a go before you travel. :thumbs:
 
I recommend the Sigma 10-20, I use it with Sigma 18-200 and a Nikon 50mm F1.8 and it covers most of my needs.
The Sigma 18-200 works well as a travel lens and the 35mm gets great reviews from most who have it.
 
Nikon 16-85mm?

A smidge wider for your scenery shots, and long enough for portraits. Not brilliantly fast, but you've got your 35mm f1.8 for that.

I think you will enjoy the Tamron Pete..:thumbs:

And dont forget my offer of trying the Nikon 12-24 F4 to see what you think...would be a good range to go with the 28-75 you now have.
