Cant decide which macro lens

Now that my tripod and flash are sorted my next purchase is a macro lens as I feel this is where I will ultimately get the most pleasure from. Trouble is I can not make my mind up.

Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 usm.

sigma 105 mm f/2.8 EX DG macro

tamron sp AF 90mm f/2.8 macro di

Tokina 100mm f/2.8 D AT X M100 AF Pro

I have read the reviews on photo zone and the sigma and tokina got the best overall stars ratings.

Anyone own 1 of these and able to comment?
 
I have the Sigma.. it does the job, great results.. can't really say any more. I haven't tried any of the others for comparison.

I have seen very good results from others using the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM.

But.. what do you intend to photograph? you seem to have already decided on the 90-105mm focal length.
 
The 100mm 2.8 is L is what you want. It's the only lens I regret selling and am going to buy it again.
 
I have the tokina and it's a cracker of a lens
 
Just plants and bugs, maybe birds those sort of things - anything I can find in the garden lol.

I have not decided on the length just assumed those were the better ones to choose from.

I would love the Canon 100 mm is L macro lens, however it is a couple of hundred more.
 
I've got the Sigma 105mm. Cracking lens imo and the sharpest one I own. I love it and will have it until the day I die (or until it packs up) :D

I can't make any comparison to other lenses in your shortlist though....never owned or tried them.

it's so worth it, try and find it second hand
