Can't Decide!

I'm currently looking for a new DSLR.
I used to have a canon 40D a few years ago and sold it and purchased a samsung NX1000 but I don't like it! The auto focus is rubbish and I keep getting ERROR 00 coming up so I bought it was time to go back to DSLR.
I am undecided between a canon 100D or a Nikon D3200.
I have a budget of £500 and I'm looking for a twin lens kit with bag and memory card.
The camera will be used on days out and motorcycle racing also family holidays.

Any advice will be truly appreciated.

If they're the two that you're limiting yourself to then go to Currys and hold them in your hand and have a play with them if you can (menu's etc) and see which feels the best to you. They're both capable cameras that target the same area of the market, small, competent entry level cameras.

If you used the 40D menus I found that each Canon I bought had the same easy use system so that may be a point in favour for Canon

Keep in mind the 40D was quite large the models you mention are smaller so I would tend to agree have a look locally and you can check feel in your hand

Why not go back to a 40D or 50D or newer 60/70D as this is what you've had previously and presumably liked it...

Can I also suggest having a look at the Sony alpha 58 and the Pentax K500. I tried all the models around this price back in the late autumn and found both the Pentax and Sony to handle better *in my hands* (the Nikon felt really cramped) and to have viewfinders I preferred. In the end I bought the Sony because i wanted EVF and it fitted lenses I already owned, but the pentax was a close runner up.

The A58 is a nice camera I own one and like the Sony system very much so agree with the thought only thing you may find its small in the hand nice video capabilities as well!
