I cannot decide if I like this shot or not, a beautiful bird but not sure about the picture itself. Open to views on this one

I'm not so much of an expert, but i think it might be because the sky is grey aswell as the bird, so it isn't standing out quite as much as it would on a green or blue background for example.
 
yep thought the two did not merge well, but the sky is as on the night so reluctant to change it
 
It a good photo but I can see where you are coming from, I think a portrait shot may have worked better here.

:agree: Decisions decisions eh Jayne? There is something there that needs bringing out but I think it will be a case of trial and error. Had a little fun play with it hope thats ok? Could not do much about the fraggy sky though :) I think a tighter crop on the left might help it a bit as well and give it a touch more space on the right hand side to look into.
